Amy Mackelden is the weekend editor at Marie Claire US and a freelance entertainment journalist, living with multiple sclerosis, ADHD, PCOS, and anxiety (among other things). Her bylines include ELLE, People, Harper’s BAZAAR, The Rumpus, The Independent, HelloGiggles, Cosmopolitan, & Bustle.
Amy co-edited the Emma Press Anthology of Illness, and has written about health for Forbes, Healthline, The Paper Gown by Zocdoc, The Checkup by SingleCare, MS Society, MS Trust, and Byrdie. In 2019, she undertook Columbia University's short course in Narrative Medicine funded by a Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England.
After winning a Northern Writers’ Award from New Writing North in 2011, Amy co-founded Butcher’s Dog poetry magazine. She has toured several spoken word theatre projects, funded by Grants for the Arts Awards, and received two Artists' International Development Fund Awards from Arts Council England.
